AEFRH (website) was established in February 2000 in Cartagena, during the National Meeting of Historical Festivals and Events. AEFRH groups associations, foundations, local administrations and other organisms that organize festivals, shows and re-enactions of historical characteristic and including a significant playful and cultural component.
Currently, AEFRH groups the organizers of 10 Ibero-Roman, 15 medieval, 4 Renaissance, 2 Baroque and 1 Napoleonic events.

The flag of AEFRH (photo, photo, photo, photo) is composed of eight right-angle triangles, in turn blue and yellow, with the association's emblem in the center.
The emblem features a map of Spain charged with the association's acronym and surrounded by a ribbon, left, in the Spanish colors, right, in the European colors. This emphasizes AEFRH as a Spanish national association affiliated to the Confédération Européenne des Fêtes et Manifestations Historiques.
